Dahlvig family plans bowling fundraiser in son's memory
The fund was created in memory of Dahlvig, a Rhinelander native and Vilas County Sheriff's Deputy killed in an on-duty traffic accident in April 2010.
The Dahlvig family has held several types of fundraising events in the past few years, but the weather has been an issue.
"Kory kept raining on us so we decided we are going to go inside," said Ron Dahlvig, Kory's father. "Anytime we had [a fundraiser] it would rain and storm and be really bad so we decided to heck with that ... so we're having bowling."
No tap means instead of taking an average score, all team members' scores will be added up to determine the winners.
Registration is $60 for a team of five and registration is the day of the event. It is recommended to have teams of five for optimal scores.
The paddle wheel raffles will start as soon as the first pins are knocked down.
Prizes include free nights at motels, snowmobile bibs, gift certificates to various restaurants, speakers from Sounds and Motion, a pool stick from the Pool People, and alcohol. People don't have to bowl to participate in the raffles.
A trophy, donated by Feight's Trophies, will be awarded to the first-place team.
"Come and have a great time, enjoy your day and please help us out," Ron Dahlvig said.
Three people have been awarded scholarships in the four years since the Kory Dahlvig Scholarship has been in existence. The scholarship is given to those who are pursuing a career in criminal justice.
