Businesses donate to Leanna Kossack Sarcoma Foundation
By Kayla Thomason-
Representatives of three businesses - Boyd Financial Services, Rhinelander GM & Toyota Auto Center and Dairy Queen - were present Wednesday to hand-deliver their donations to Leanna's mother, Jaimie Kossack.
Other businesses that have donated to the foundation include Tamarack Tap in Lake Tomahawk, Flying Finn, Mary Hollands from Avon, and Doug Evers from Eversco LTD.
The businesses donated a total of $3,111 to the foundation, which was created last year when a Rhinelander teenager, Leanna Kossack, was battling a rare form of cancer. Kossack died Jan. 28, 2013 but her family has continued the foundation in the hope of helping other children and families fighting cancer.
The foundation has already helped three children, two of whom are now in remission.
"You could see the impact that [Leanna's passing] had last year already on the community so clearly it's a very important subject and I think bringing it back up again and reeducating and keeping the word out there is always a positive thing," said Tarsie Goes, marketing coordinator at Rhinelander GM &Toyota Auto Center.
Anyone wishing to donate to the foundation can visit any Associated Bank to make a deposit.
Jaimie Kossack said the family is also looking for someone to donate their time to complete paperwork so that the foundation can become a 501(c)(3) organization.
