The Sno-dags, a Nordic ski program for Rhinelander area children in grades 2-5 kicked off Tuesday on the Rhinelander Community Ski Trails in front of Rhinelander High School.
A large group of youth skiers turned out and were instructed by coaches, alumni and athletes from the RHS and Rhinelander middle school programs. The six-week program will run on Tuesday into the month of February.
Middle school Nordic skiers compete in Wausau
The Rhinelander Middle School Nordic ski team traveled to Wausau Saturday to take part in the John Hugus Invitational.
The Hodags sent five skiers to the meet. In the under 12 class, Jacques Tulowitzky was the top Rhinelander finisher with an eighth-place finish. He posted a time of 8:26.1. Zach Goodrich finished in 11th place with a time of 8:46.3. Oliver Ferdinand finished 12th with a time of 9:11.6.
In the female under 12 class, Anna Wood took fifth place with a time of 8:49.8. Finn Tulowitzky finished in second place with a time of 8:44.6.
