The AirPro Fan and Blower Company is expanding into the city of Rhinelander.

The company - which designs and manufactures industrial fans and blowers to move airstreams of all types including clean, dirty, hot, cold, abrasive, corrosive and material-laden air - is keeping its current facility at 4858 State Highway 17 and will use the former WPS building at 425 West Davenport Street in Rhinelander as a headquarters. The new location will also be used to expand manufacturing practices.

"It will be our headquarters for the business and will also be used for additional manufacturing (purposes)," explain-ed owner Keith White, Sr.

White said the main reason for the expansion is the "need for additional office space and a desire to increase production capacity."

There were other reasons as well, however, including an attempt to cut through the governmental red tape that would have been required to expand at the company's current location.

"The challenges to continue to expand at our current location were just not attractive," White said. "If you haven't noticed, we have a lot of government these days ... and some among us such as myself, who God has gifted to be able to produce, are really getting frustrated and tired of trying to do that in this environment. I don't like getting all political, but it is political."

"I would have loved to keep everything (at the current location). That's the obvious, ideal way to run a business, to keep it at the same location, but when I've got people telling me zoning restrictions say you have do this and you look at it and say, 'man, that would just really be stupid,' what do you do?" he added.

The goal is to complete the move as soon as possible. White said he had hoped to be moved in three weeks ago, but was held up trying to get the required permits.

"If you can get all of the people who were supposed to grant permits to get off whatever their duff is that causes the delays, we would have been in there a long time ago," White said.

"We're being held up by things outside of our control. The plan had been (to move in) about three weeks ago, but here we sit. We're hoping it will be January."
