The display opened last weekend and continues this weekend, Dec. 12-14, and next weekend, Dec. 19-21, at the former Joanne Fabrics location in the Trig's Riverwalk Centre in Rhinelander. Admission is completely free for the whole family but donations are greatly appreciated. Visitors will get to view multiple model train layouts with working trains and village scenes amongst a whole backdrop decorated for the holiday season.
Even though it's a busy time of the year for him, Santa Claus will be making weekly appearances at the train displays each Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Kids can visit with him to pass along their wishes for Christmas presents as well as to get a few pictures with the big man.
After you're finished at the train display on Friday, continue down the Riverwalk Centre to the Christmas Cookie Sale sponsored by United Methodist Women of Rhinelander UMC. Starting Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. and continuing until 4 p.m., you'll be able to find a great range of homemade Christmas cookies for a quick snack that day or to bring home to the rest of the family.
Many of our local restaurants follow their own traditions by decking the halls with over-the-top decorations or featuring seasonal food and drink menus. This is definitely a great time of the year to enjoy a few meals out with friends and family.
