First annual Liz Vander Bloemen Charitable Golf Event raises $100,000 for Alzheimer's research
North Star Resource Group Senior Partner and Rhinelander native Brett Vander Bloemen organized the event in honor of his mother, Liz, who has been battling the disease for years. Over $46,000 was raised for the event and with the Scott Richards North Star Charitable Foundation matching that amount dollar for dollar in addition to contributing $8,000 more, the final goal of $100,000 was reached.
The event was held at the Town & Country Club in St. Paul, Minn. with a turnout of 116 golfers. Vander Bloemen was pleased with the success of the event.
"It feels really good, I know this money will not only help my mom, but hopefully will also give somebody else hope," he said. "I don't want anyone to have to go through what our family is dealing with. I hope everyone is ready for next year!"
