Summer comes to a close with World Championship Off-Road Races

More than 40,000 people from all over the country come to watch the event.
"[Crandon International Off-Road Raceway] is the birthplace of the modern short course off-road truck and buggy racing as we know it today," said Josh Jameson, community development specialist at the Forest County Chamber of Commerce.
The event kicks off at noon Friday with the 45th Anniversary World Championship Labor Day Parade.
A driver's meeting for those racing on Friday will be held at 1:30 p.m.
At 6 p.m. the Sportsman Trophy Race will begin, followed by a concert by Boggie and the Yoyoz at 8 p.m.
From 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday the TORC Practice (PRO Qualifying) will be held.
At 10:30 a.m. Cher-Make Classix & Parsons Stock Trucks will race, followed by the Lincoln Electric 1600 Buggy at noon.
The Miller Lite Limited 4 & F 4x4 and County Hearth Super Trucks start at 12:45 p.m. and the Mt. Dew Super Stock Trucks start at 1:30 p.m.
Short Course Karts take off at 2:15 p.m., followed by the Husqvarna Super Buggy race at 3 p.m.
The PRO Light Truck, PRO 2WD Truck and PRO 4x4 Truck races are set for 3:45, 4:30 and 5:15 p.m. respectively.
The evening will end with a concert by Vic Ferrari at 8 p.m.
At 7 a.m. on Sunday there will be a church service in the Big Barn.
Racing will continue from 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. when the fifth annual AMSOIL Cup Challenge will commence.
"Our [track] is known as the fastest and probably one of the most difficult [due to the way the track was designed]," Jameson said.
This event is sanctioned by the United States Auto Club, presented by AMSOIL and Traxxas.
Weekend admission is $40 for ages 13 and older. Admission is free for those 12 and under or 75 and older. The weekend admission includes concerts.
One day of racing only is $25 for people 13 and older, free for children 12 and under or adults 75 and older.
Friday or Saturday night concerts only are $10 for those 13 and older, free for everyone younger than 13 years of age or older than 75.
