Lake of the Torches Resort Casino has announced that Duane Chapman has been selected as the property's assistant general manager. He will assist in overseeing the daily operations of the resort property located in the heart of the Northwoods.

Chapman, a Lac du Flambeau tribal member, has more than 18 years experience working in the gaming industry, most recently as the Lac du Flambeau Band of Chippewa Indians' internal compliance auditor.

As compliance auditor, Chapman conducted mandatory compliance audits and reviews related to tribal internal controls as well as the National Indian Gaming Commission and state/tribal gaming compacts.

He was also appointed to the TIGA Treaty Council last December by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. TIGA is the Tribal Internet Gaming Alliance in which tribes work together to establish legal Internet-based casino gaming within a framework of state and federal law.

In addition to his experience, Chapman also studied hotel, restaurant and casino management at the College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas and at Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, N.C. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as Communications Sergeant and Jumpmaster and as a Departmental Supervisor in the Army and Air Force Exchange Service.

"I welcome Duane to his new position as a member of the Lake of the Torches' management team and look forward to working with him in ensuring Lake of the Torches remains a destination of choice for guests and visitors from across the Midwest," said Chief Executive Officer Bill Guelcher.

Situated on the shores of Pokegama Lake and nestled in Wisconsin's Northwoods, the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino has a feel of a classic northern retreat and reflects its Ojibwe culture and heritage. The casino has over 800 slot machines (including a high-limit and non-smoking area), blackjack tables, Let it Ride, Three Card Poker, and three poker tables, all new craps and roulette, a high-stakes Bingo Hall seating up to 500 persons, Woody's Bar and Grill, and the Eagle's Nest Restaurant. The hotel has 101 rooms, the Dancing Waters Lounge and the Woodland Oasis pool area. The 8,500 square-foot Convention Center with the Hall of Nations is a venue for entertainment, receptions, trade shows, meetings, presentations and seminars. It is proudly owned and operated by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.
