City announces yards of the month
The winner of the Commercial Yard of the Month for August is Briar House Coffee, Gifts, and Fashion Apparel at 634 S. Keenan St.
Chris and Kim Frederickson of 642 S. Oneida Ave. are the August winners for Traditional Yard of the Month.
The Blooming Yard of the Month award for August was presented to Doug and Marcia Weight of 828 S. Oneida Ave.
The Yard of the Month program, now in its fifth year, was started by the city of Rhinelander to recognize homeowners and residents whose properties beautify their neighborhoods by improving curb appeal. Residential award winners receive an award certificate, Yard of the Month sign, and a $50 credit from the city on their next water bill. Commercial Yard of the Month winners do not receive financial compensation.
Sponsored by the city of Rhinelander, the program is a collaboration with Master Gardeners of the North, who provide the judges, and the Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce, which handles publicity and accepts the Yard of the Month nominations.
