To help parents and students prepare for the start of the school year, Bowen's is holding an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 20 at its headquarters at 1940 River Street in Rhinelander. Parents will have an opportunity to ask questions and children will be taught how to ride the bus properly.
"We'll have the safety zones around the bus so kids know where they should and shouldn't walk," Bowen's Public Relations Coordinator Craig Voigt said.
"We'll have some door prizes. We'll have some carnival games and things like that. We'll have all the forms people need to fill out there and people can ask us any questions they have."
Bowen's also uses the open house to inform parents and students about any route changes that may be in place for the coming school year.
"As every year comes along, changes in routes are inevitable. They're always going to happen," Voigt said. "Just with the fact that we have over 200 graduating seniors leaving and however many new students coming through, that all makes a big difference in the busing schedule."
The company asks parents to send in alternate transportation forms by Aug. 22.
"We want to let everyone know that Aug. 22 is our deadline for the alternate transportation forms," Voigt said. "We want those in by the 22nd so we can make sure everything's ready for the start of school."
"We also want to remind people to look for their postcards that will be coming in the mail around the middle or end of August," he added.
