Golden Harvest market has resolved its space problems by moving into a beautiful new building which opened Monday at the corner of County Highway G and U.S. Highway 8.

After spending years cramped in a much smaller building at 627 Coon Street, the new location offers the space necessary to not only make customers more comfortable but offer more products.

"We have at least a third or a half more new products than we had," said Nikki Conjurske, who owns the store with her husband, Tim. "We have a whole new pet care section that we did not have. Also, every single section in the store has expanded, so we have more chips, more salsa, more supplements, more health and beauty products, more choices of nuts and dry fruit, more choices of jams and jellies. Every section has expanded."

In addition, the store will soon offer deli items. Conjurske said the kitchen will be up and running soon.

"The deli is working on getting their made-to-order menu ready," she said. "We don't have it totally ready, but there will eventually be soups, salads, sandwiches, coffee, smoothies, all of that."

While being able to offer more products is great, Conjurske said the best part of the move to the new building is that customers have space to walk around and peruse the merchandise without feeling cramped.

"It feels wonderful. I like the free-flowing feel of everything," she said. "Even though we've had double the normal amount of customers, it doesn't feel like it because we finally have room for everybody to move around and shop. It's wonderful."

Seeing so many people come through the doors is a welcome sight, she added.

"It's exciting. It's feels great to see everyone come out to the new building and continue shopping with us," Conjurske said. "We were worried about the customers not being able to find us and stuff, but it doesn't appear like we're having that issue and we are very thankful for that."

Conjurske said a grand opening celebration will be held as soon as the staff feels comfortable that everything is running smoothly.

"We are planning to have some kind of grand opening in a couple of weeks or a month, when we get everything up and running and set the way we want it to be," she said.

The former Golden Harvest building is being remodeled and will eventually be the new home of the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry.
