Local student selected to perform with state collegiate honor band
Esther O'Brien of Rhinelander was among 13 University of Wisconsin-Superior students majoring in music who were chosen to take part in the Wisconsin National Band Association Collegiate Honor Band.

The UW-Superior students participated in rehearsals and a concert Jan. 17 in Wisconsin Rapids, along with students from 15 other Wisconsin Universities. Conductors for the band included Dr. Pamela Bustos, associate professor and director of bands at UW-Superior, and other Wisconsin university band directors.

O'Brien performed on clarinet.

UW-Superior's Music Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and is well known for preparing students for careers as music teachers and professional performers.
