By Kayla Thomason-
Eleven teams participated in the event, raising a total of $4,258 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"Being new and just seeing this kind of excitement and this many people here to support us in our first event is just fantastic," said Craig Monson, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin.
The top team, Associated Bank, raised $1,176.
"More teams, more companies, should get involved in things like this," said Jo Waltenberg, manager of the Rhinelander branch of Associated Bank. "It's a great event for a great cause."
The Associated Bank team was dressed up as characters from "Happy Days." Waltenberg was dressed as Lenny.
The second-place team was the Rhinelander Hillbillies. That group raised $884.
The top individual, Lois Ruediger, raised $500.
Jennie Jaskie was the individual runner-up, bringing in $486.
"We're really excited with how great this event has turned out for the first year being in Rhinelander and the tremendous community support that we've had is incredible," said Christina Thrun, development and marketing director for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
All of the money raised Friday will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Northwoods to help pay for matches and background checks.
It costs an average of $1,000 a year to match one adult with one child, run background checks and screen volunteers.
