Three Lakes High School art teacher Ameris Grapa, was in contact with St. Germain resident Tim Tosch, whose father began a legacy in Haiti in the 1970s. Camp Elim Ministries, founded by Roy and Virginia Tosch, is a school and camp for Haitian children. Photos of some of the children were given to Ms. Grapa by Tim Tosch. Grapa's students selected photos from which to draw the children's portraits as an art project with a humanistic twist. Three Lakes students learned about Haiti, the recent earthquake and the aftermath, while working on the sketches. Students also wrote letters to their Haitian counterparts. The portraits will be delivered and gifted to the children at Camp Elim by Mr. Tosch when he returns to Haiti this summer.
