"He was chosen by the Rotary Board and Club," said Rhinelander Rotary president Tim Thorsen. "[He was chosen because of] everything he has dedicated - time and energy and experience-wise - into the community."
Hansen is a former member of the Oneida County Board of Supervisors. He has also served on many boards and committees including at Trinity Lutheran Church.
He has been with the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry since it was formed and has served as executive director for several years. He is a founding member of the Rhinelander Area Silent Trails Association (RASTA), maintaining ski and bike trails.
Hansen has also been involved in the Boy Scouts, serving as scout leader. He was instrumental in building the Judy Swank Shelter at Perch Lake, where the Washburn ski and bike trails are located, and helped with the construction and remodeling of the Frederick Place homeless shelter.
Hansen is also a recipient of the Mel Davidson Leadership award.
