The RHS boys' cross country team placed fourth out of eight teams and the RHS girls' were seventh out of seven teams Oct. 12 in the junior varsity division of the 37th Hatchet Invite at Edgewater Country Club in Tomahawk.
Kade Kennedy paced the Hodag JV boys, taking 14th overall, with a time of 19 minutes, 17 seconds. Robert Ritchie (21st), Jake Zalewski (29th), Kurt Zuiker (33rd), Trent Wild (34th), Drew Stafford (36th) and Calin Erdmann (37th) rounded out the scoring for the Hodags.
The JV girls were paced by Amelia Fehlen, who placed 32nd at 19:46. Payton Hartman (44th), Kirsten Kolasa (52nd), Katy Grulke (62nd) and Hannah Eggers (63rd) rounded out the squad.
Middle school soccer
The Rhinelander middle school soccer teams battled Horace Mann Middle School twice last week. The Hodag boys lost 5-1 Oct. 8 and 4-1 Oct. 10. Jonas Sabani scored in both games for Rhinelander. The Hodag girls lost 4-3 Oct. 8 and 3-1 Oct. 10. Anna Sturzl had all four goals for Rhinelander in the two contests. Gwen Frederickson and Claire Arbuckle had assists.
