Pelican Elementary School kindergartener Meaghan Everson got to ride to school in a Pelican fire truck Wednesday morning after being selected as one of the winners of the Pelican Family Read to Ride program. The program encourages families to turn off all electronics and read for 20 minutes per day. Those families who chose to read together filled out a slip and returned it to school. One student per grade level was selected to win a ride to school in the fire truck.
