Rhinelander Swim Club members compete at Midwest regionals
Club members had to qualify for this meet during the regular meet season and competed against teams from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, and South Dakota while there.
Joseph Heck, 10, took part in six events. He placed 17th out of 56 in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 37.98 seconds, 46th out of 56 in the 50 freestyle (33.82 seconds), 17th out of 32 in the 100 backstroke (1:22.41), 48th out of 56 in the 100 freestyle (1:19.38), seventh out of 14 as part of 200 Medley Relay and seventh out of 15 as part of the 200 freestyle relay.
Jack Antonuk, 8, competed in five events. He placed 26th out of 35 in the 25 freestyle (17.19), 26th out of 30 in the 50 backstroke (50.76), 32nd out of 56 in the 50 freestyle (40.36), 14th out of 20 in the 50 breaststroke (50.56) and 22nd out of 23 in the 100yd freestyle (1:33.15).
Sayge Stojadinovic, 10, also competed in five events. She placed 42nd out of 86 in the 100 individual medley (1:25.89), 21st out of 79 in the 50 freestyle (32.59), 15th out of 63 in the 50 butterfly. Stojadinovic's 200 freestyle relay team was first out of 21 teams and her 200 medley relay team was fourth out of 20 teams.
Miranda Erdmann, 11, placed 29th out of 49 in the 100 breaststroke (1:24.12), 30th out of 59 in the 50 breaststroke (38.61) seconds and 14th out of 37 as part of the 200 Medley Relay.
Charlie Heck, 7, placed 25th out of 30 in the 50 backstroke (50.63) and 51st out of 56 in the 50 freestyle (46.23). Grace Heck, 11, placed 46th out of 125 in the 50 freestyle (29.40), 57th out of 89 in the 100 freestyle and 14th out of 37 in the 200 Medley Relay.
Tucker Lindman, 8, placed 15th out of 20 in the 50 breaststroke (50.58). Audrey Schiek, 8, placed 30th out of 36 in the 25 butterfly (21.11).
Though the competitive season is over, the Rhinelander Swim Club is hosting its "Stay Wet" season starting April 9. The season will run for seven weeks at a cost of $35 per swimmer. Families can register the first night of practice. Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Heck Family Community Pool, with a possible late practice for experienced swimmers (depending on number of swimmers). Swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) in the backstroke or front crawl unaided to be eligible.
