Senior: Rhinelander III 13, Lakeland 3

Rhinelander III easily defeated Lakeland 13-3 in the first game of the night Wednesday at Stafford Field.

Rhinelander III's bats were swinging heavily throughout the game. The team cycled through the entire order in the first inning, scoring four in the first inning off the bats of Kurt Zuiker and Tyler Blomdahl, among others.

The team kept a balanced attack, continuing to score in the second, third, and fourth innings, before plating four in the sixth to bring the lead to 13. Lakeland scored runs in the first, third, and fifth, but couldn't answer before the 10-run was rule applied.

Every single player on Rhinelander III had a hit, further showing the team's depth and offensive ability.

Senior: Tomahawk Hatchets 16, Laser Pros 9

In the second contest Wednesday evening Rhinelander-Laser Pros had a tough outing against the Tomahawk Hatchets.

Despite a 3-3 tie following the second inning, a mid-game slump for Laser Pros led to the Hatchets capitalizing and taking a late lead. Laser Pros was able to close the distance slightly before a seven-run sixth inning sealed the fate of the hometown team.

Laser Pros came to the plate in the bottom of the seventh needing 11 runs and although they were able to knock in four, a strike out, force out and pop fly would quickly end the game.

Statistics were not available for Laser Pros vs. Tomahawk.

Prep: Rhinelander II 10, Tomahawk Rangers 9

Kadin Umland hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth as Rhinelander II defeated Tomahawk 10-9 in Prep League action Thursday at Stafford Field. The game was shortened to six innings because of time.

Rhinelander trailed 9-8 with two out in the sixth when the rally began. Zach Olds and Darin Bloomquist hit back-to-back doubles to tie the game before Umland's game winner. Reeve Craig went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Olds was 3-for-4 with two driven in and picked up the win on the hill, pitching one inning of relief.

Craig started on the hill and had two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of work. Cole Spaulding struck out three over 2 1/3 innings. Olds had one strikeout.

Rhinelander led 5-1 after two innings in a back-and-fourth game. Tomahawk plated six in the third to take a 7-5 lead. Rhinelander II plated three in the fourth before Tomahawk tied the game with a run in the fifth and took the lead with one more in the sixth.

Senior: Tomahawk Cardinals 12, Rhinelander II 4

A four-run rally in the fourth inning was not enough for Rhinelander II as it lost 12-4 in a Senior League game Thursday that was stopped in the sixth inning because of rain.

Travis Young had a two-run single, Alex Woynich had an RBI double and Ramon Elizondo had a run-scoring single in the fourth as Rhinelander II halved the Cardinals' lead to 8-4. Tomahawk tacked on two runs in both the fifth and sixth before the game was halted.

Trey Gwinn took the loss for Rhinelander II. He struck out five over three innings. Woynich struck out two over two-plus innings of work.
