Three Lakes students visit FABCO facility in Oshkosh
The career exploration activity allowed students to get a close-up view of the program that offers them the opportunity to become a certified Caterpillar technician. Students also learned about the skills and commitment it takes to become a diesel certified technician.
"I believe this program is a great opportunity for any student because they can complete the program and become certified in one year or less. The best part is students are assured a job with FABCO when they successfully complete the program," said Mike Gorney, technical education instructor at Three Lakes.
"We have several students who became very excited and serious about this program after visiting the facility," added Brad Volkmann, math and computers instructor.
In addition to the tour and activities, FABCO gave the School District of Three Lakes a diesel engine for students to work on.
Fabtech is a division of Fox Valley Technical College. The program allows students to earn certificates through a series of courses focused on developing and servicing Caterpillar engines, construction equipment, electric power generation equipment, and marine engines.
