There are now four defendants facing drug charges at least on the class D felony level as part of a recent drug task force investigation into the use of methamphetamine in Oneida County.

Formal charges were filed Monday against Benjamin E. Metz, 27. Metz is one of at least 23 people arrested by law enforcement in recent months as part of the investigation. He is facing two felony counts of manufacturing/delivery of methamphetamine greater than 10 grams and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The two felonies are on the class D level and each carry a maximum possible penalty of 25 years in the state prison system. Another four years could be added to each count because of prior felony drug convictions on Metz's record. He is currently free on a $2,500 cash bond and is scheduled to make another appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court Dec. 16.

Metz is one of four defendants facing meth distribution charges this severe. Grant Garrow, 30, and Chad Laddusire, 31, are each facing one class D felony charge. Ryan Novosad, 36, is facing a class C felony charge for distribution of meth greater than 50 grams. That charge carries a maximum possible penalty of 40 years in the state prison system.
