Northwoods School of Dance to present 'Nutcracker' Dec. 13
This performance will incorporate music, dance and story-telling and promises to continue to bring high quality multi-art productions to benefit all of northern Wisconsin. While the majority of dancers will be from Rhinelander, they will be joined by accomplished dancers from Three Lakes, Eagle River, Crandon and Sugar Camp.
Accomplished guest dancers along with dancers of all ages from the Northwoods School of Dance will bring "The Nutcracker" to life.
The show will begin with a few Christmas favorites performed by enthusiastic dancers, choreographed by Miriah Busche, a former student and very talented teacher at the school.
After that, the troupe will present a shortened 1st Act and the complete 2nd Act of "The Nutcracker."
Tchaikovsky's powerful score instills a love for nutcracker dolls, sugar plum fairies, and wooden soldiers all brought to life by the Magical Godfather Drosselmeyer. Narration helps the audience follow the story from Clara's home to the magical Land of the Sweets, ends with a grand finale that will return Clara to her home just in time for Christmas morning.
Dancing the part of the Sugar Plum Fairy this year will be Taylor Pitlik, a senior at Three Lakes High School. This performance is made possible in part through a generous donation from The Northern Arts Council.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for all children and can be purchased at the door.
Discounted tickets for groups of 10 or more are available. For more information, contact Karen at (715) 362-3455.
