Holiday spirit abounds at annual 'Breakfast with Santa' event
Santa Claus was on hand to interact with children, take photos and, of course, jot down Christmas lists.
Dorothy Rudolph helped organize the event. She said she always looks forward to putting it on.
"Well, we've been doing it for 18 years now," she said. "It's really a joy for the kids to come see Santa and enjoy the pancakes and little goodies. They're having so much fun and that makes all of us feel good."
While the breakfast was a success, Rudolph noted that the number of people who attended the event may have been a little lower this year due to frigid temperatures.
Now in its 18th year, the holiday event has become tradition at the church. Rudolph said it's a favorite of many.
"I believe people always look forward to this breakfast," she said. "People come back year after year and we always get calls asking when it's going to be. A lot of people really love this day."
Chocolate chip pancakes were served to the group. Rudolph said it's a way to mark the day as something out of the ordinary, especially for the kids.
"Kids love chocolate chips," she said. "We've tried this in the past and we've found that they really like the chocolate chip pancakes, so we like to make this Santa breakfast a little more special by serving them. The kids always smile when they see them."
The breakfast ended at 11 a.m., and Santa departed with the others back into the cold, stomachs full of pancakes and hearts full of holiday cheer.
