Phelps man charged with possession of child pornography
According to the Vilas County Sheriff's office, an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation was initiated back on Feb. 6 after the sheriff's office received information from the Phelps School District about an employee accessing pornographic websites.
Evidence was collected and transmitted to the Wisconsin Department of Justice - State Crime Lab, for analysis.
On Aug. 19, Richard Buell, 61, of Phelps, was taken into custody by the Vilas County Sheriff's Office and charged with 78 counts of possession of child pornography, 948.12(1m) Wis. Stats., a class D Felony. The arrest has been referred to the Vilas County District Attorney's Office.
This is a joint investigation with the Sheriff's Office, Phelps School District and the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
