According to a press release issued by Three Lakes Police Chief Scott Lea, Three Lakes school officials received what they deemed to be a "credible" bomb threat at about 9:53 a.m. Friday. Police were immediately called in to evacuate the building.
"There was what we felt was a credible bomb threat. We followed our protocol to the letter. The building was evacuated, we worked in conjunction with the Three Lakes Police Department, the Three Lakes Fire Department, and the Oneida County Sheriff's Department. The entire building was swept and they were comfortable that the building was safe so we brought the kids back in," Three Lakes Principal Dr. Bill Greb explained.
"The school district requested our assistance and we did a thorough search of the entire building and once we were able to say it was clear, we brought the kids back in to get started on their day again," Lea added.
Students began reentering the building at about 12:30 p.m.
Lea would not comment on the specifics of the threat.
"We really, at this point, don't want to go into that," said Lea. "We're at the point in the investigation (where) that's really critical, especially in the first five to seven days where we can get a lot of information and the kids work with us, and we want to keep as many specifics about the threat as we can. We want to make sure that the people who know about this are the people who did it and law enforcement at this point."
Anyone with information about the threat is asked to call the Three Lakes Police Department at (715) 546-2211.
