Thirteen recruits recently graduated from the Nicolet College Law Enforcement Recruit Academy, certifying each to work in law enforcement agencies in the state of Wisconsin. The class of 2012 includes front row, left to right, Lacey Lenzner, Antigo, Matthew Tate, Spring Green, Christie Kondzela, Elton, Brent Krebs, Monroe, Logan Swiantek, Medford, Tim Gensler, Three Lakes. Back row, Phil Schmidt, Academy instructor, Nick Weber, Minocqua, Amos O'Brien, Rhinelander, Jake Jezeski, Argonne, Shane DeCamp, Menominee, Mich., Dylan Mattila, Minocqua, Dan Littleton, Rhinelander and Ira LaBarge, Lac du Flambeau. The 13-week, 520-hour program was run in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Instruction included lectures and hands-on training that covered Policing in America, Tactical Skills, Patrol Procedures, Investigations, and Emergency Medical Response for Law Enforcement. Specialized skills such as Emergency Vehicle Operation, Firearms, Professional Communications, and Defense and Arrest Tactics were also taught.
