The Vilas County Sheriff's Office apprehended an Eagle River man wanted on a felony bail jumping charge less than an hour after asking for the public's help in locating him.

Vilas County Chief Deputy Joe Fath sent out an alert to area media just after 4 p.m. Monday seeking help in locating a wanted man, Lucas A. Johnston-Burnett, 19, of Eagle River.

The notice stated Johnston-Burnett had last been seen on Squash Lake Road in Oneida County at approximately 1:30 p.m. Monday and had fled from law enforcement.

Less than an hour later, Vilas County authorities faxed word that Johnston-Burnett had been apprehended in Oneida County with the help of the Vilas County K-9 unit and would be booked into the Vilas County jail.

According to Vilas jail records, Johnston-Burnett is being held on theft, criminal damage to property, escape and bail jumping charges.

Johnston-Burnett also has a number of serious pending charges in Vilas County including burglary, theft and possession of THC with intent to deliver.

A pretrial conference on Johnston-Burnett's pending charges is set for June 26.
