Construction began last week on a new, lighted basketball court at Central Intermediate School in Rhinelander.

The foundation has been laid for a regulation-sized, asphalt basketball court that will be lit to allow play during the evening until 10 p.m. The Rhinelander Kiwanis Club is spearheading the project, which will cost around $32,000. Kiwanis donated $10,000 toward the project with the remaining balance covered by personal and business donations.

Musson Bros. is handling the paving of the court and T.J. DeWitt and Company is handling the electrical. Brandon Karaba, project coordinator for the Kiwanis Club, indicated that the project should be finished by mid-July.
