STELLA - Four racers successfully doubled dipped Saturday, winning features in multiple classes as the Northern Vintage Snowmobile Race Series kicked off its 2012 season at Stella Town Hall, presented by the Stella Fire Department.

Jeremy Baker took home feature victories in the 0-399 cc bogie wheel class as well as the 1977 and older non-performance class. Eric Schuette scored victory in the single cylinder and 0-300 modified classes. Jake Schilleman was the fastest in the 0-300 fan cooled and 0-300 free air classes and Jason Frankenberg claimed victory in 0-400 modified and 0-503 modified.

Frankenberg is the defending champion in both of those modified divisions and was one of several drivers who began a title defense with a victory. Others included Schilleman (0-300 free air), Lance Running (0-400 fan), Wayne Nylund (0-503 free air) and Braxtin Bell (Mini 120s 3-12 year olds).

Other winners Saturday included Cody Schmidt (1985 and older single cylinder) Andy Nylund (0-503 fan), Joe Jorgensen (0-400 free air), Justin Houg (open bogie wheel), C.J. Schuette (0-300 women's), Dennis Hummer (0-503 seniors), Jake Olson (junior A), Brandon Running (junior B), Trentin Bell (mini 120s 3-6 year old), Braxtin Bell (mini 120s 3-12 year old) and Kyle Kuester (mini 120 modified).

The next NVSRSā€ˆrace will be at Lions' Park in Sugar Camp on Saturday, Jan. 28. Registration will be held from 7 to 9 a.m., with racing at 11. For more information, visit the series' website www.nvsrs.org.
