The RHS JV tennis team breezed past Medford 10-2 Tuesday in Medford. The Hodags took five of the six singles matches and five of the six doubles matches.
Elise Ditzler, Maddie Fix, Hannah Eggers, Josie Berry and Brianna Hageny all posted victories in singles. Eggers, Berry and Hageny did not drop a game in their one-set matches.
The teams of Lindsey Lieck and Lauren Sexton, Bri DeNamur and Maddie Barnes, Marianne Laska and Maria Biolo, Sarah Konicek and Emily Ditzler, and Liz Rogers and Lora Schoofs won in doubles.
Elise Ditzler was the only JV player for Rhinelander Thursday at Phillips. She won both of her one-set matches 6-0.
RHS freshmen lose high-scoring affair with D.C. Everest
The RHS freshman football team came out on the losing end of a high-scoring affair Thursday at Mike Webster Stadium, falling to D.C. Everest 50-44.
The Hodags rallied from a 34-20 halftime deficit to take a 44-42 lead in the fourth quarter, but the Evergreens scored late in the fourth and the Hodags could not convert on their final possession of the game. Unofficially, the Hodag ground game racked up over 300 yards with Devin Oleinik and Henry Kipper leading the way. The two combined for six touchdowns. Luke Roberts also scored.
The Hodag freshmen travel to Mosinee Aug. 30.
Hodag JV soccer goes 1-1-1 at home invite
The RHS JV soccer team had a win, a loss and a draw in three matches last weekend at the Hodag Soccer Invite.
The Hodags played to a 1-1 draw with Wausau West in the first match. Kyle Loehr scored for the Hodags in the 51st minute, but West tied the match in the 64th minute.
The team defeated Lakeland 1-0 with Bryce White's goal in the 47th minute proving to be the difference. The Hodags lost the final game, 1-0, to Marquette, Mich., allowing a goal in the 50th minute.
