Bus driver charged with sending child inappropriate text messages

A 51-year-old bus driver from Gleason has been charged with four felonies after the parents of an 11-year-old child reported their child received unwanted text messages from the man.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Bobb Otto Bergman was located last Thursday morning and arrested as he began his bus route.

On Friday, the Lincoln County District Attorney's Office charged Bergman with causing a child to view/listen to a sex act, causing mental harm to a child, exposing a child to harmful materials and stalking.

According to online court records, a bond hearing was held on Friday. Judge Glenn Hartley ordered a $10,000 bond with $1,500 of that bond required to be paid in cash.

By Friday afternoon, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said Bergman had posted the cash portion of the bond and was released from jail.

As a condition of bond, Bergman is to have no contact with anyone under age 18 with the exception of family members.

He was also ordered not to leave Lincoln, Langlade, Oneida, Price, Taylor or Marathon counties without prior permission of the court.

Bergman's next court date was not yet set as Hartley recused himself from the case.

The sheriff's office says the investigation into this matter is ongoing.

Bergman faces up to 32 years in prison if convicted of all charges.
