Youth swimmers hit RHS pool
Eleven swimmers took first place in their events on Saturday. Russell Benoy had three first place finishes (9-10 50-yard freestyle, 34.59 seconds; 10 and under 100 free, 1:16.56, and 10 and under 50 backstroke, 39.53 seconds). Grace Heck (10 and under 50 butterfly, 42.31, and 10 and under 100 freestyle, 1:19.33), Kirby Kuehn (13-14 100 butterfly, 1:24.00, and 13-14 100 backstroke, 1:13.14) and Marie Sandstrom (13-14 100 butterfly, 1:15.58, and 13-14 100 backstroke, 1:15.26) each recorded to victories.
Other winners for RSC included Jack Antonuk (8 and under 25 freestyle, 23.48), Annika Benoy (Senior 1000 freestyle, 15:06.86), Joseph Heck (10 and under 100 individual medley 1:53.9), Valerie Puza (13-14 100 breaststroke, 1:30.92), Eleanor Schiek (8 and under 25 backstroke, 23.75), Madison Schindler (11-12 100 freestyle, 1:15.05), and Alex Stevens (8 and under 25 butterfly, 26.79).
Several swimmers took ten seconds or more off of their previous fastest times. Kimberly Bilogan dropped 13.43 seconds in the girls' Senior 500 freestyle with a time of 7:33.17 finishing in eighth place overall. Miranda Erdmann dropped 14.48 seconds in the girls' 10 and under 50 butterfly (second, 44.15). Abigail Krueger took 10.27 seconds off in the girls' 11-12 100 freestyle (12th, 1:37.92). Marissa McGuire took 10.39 seconds off in the girls' 10 and under 100 freestyle (second, 1:27.08).
Conor Natrop dropped 20.51 seconds in the boys' 11-12 100 freestyle (sixth, 1:43.27). Madison Schindler dropped 16.15 seconds in the girls' senior 200 freestyle (4th, 2:46.10) and took off 17.80 seconds during the girls' 11-12 50 breaststroke (11th, 50.48). Aubrey Wolfe dropped an amazing 31.73 seconds from her girls' 13-14 200 I.M. (sixth, 3:35.01).
The Rhinelander Swim Club will take a little break over the holiday season. They will travel to Phillips on January 7th and will host their Freezin' Season Invitational on January 14th. All the members of the Rhinelander Swim Club wish you a very happy holiday season.
