The Cross Country Bar and Grill basketball team captured another YMCA of the Northwoods fall B league basketball championship last Thursday evening. After a regular season where they only lost one game, they continued their dominance throughout the double elimination tournament.

They navigated the tournament to the championship game against Broker's. Broker's was not going to go down without a fight, keeping the game tight through the first half and closing the half with a three-point lead. Cross Country kept its composure, fought back and took control in the second half, ultimately sealing the championship, 51-32.

Broker's was fighting through the last chance bracket and needed a win to force a second game against Cross Country.

After struggling in the regular season, the Bucketheads team wrapped up a third place finish with a win over Fred's Grill.

"The fall league was very competitive and the double elimination tournament format made for some great playoff basketball. I look forward to having a few more teams for the upcoming winter league," stated YMCA of the Northwoods Wellness Director Chris Cook.

Registration will open for the YMCA of the Northwoods winter basketball league Dec. 19, with games being played on Wednesday and Thursday nights beginning on Jan. 11.

Get your teams together and if you are interested in playing and don't have a full team contact Cook at (715) 362- 9622, ext. 113.
