Northwoods Singers announce upcoming holiday concerts
As the holidays approach, the Northwoods Singers are preparing beautiful Christmas music to fill the season with inspiration and joy. The group includes singers from around the Northwoods of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula.
Directed by Dr. Pamalyn Lee, the chorus will present three holiday concerts titled “Carols by Candlelight.”
Concert selections include a unique setting of “Silent Night” in multiple languages, a festive arrangement of an early French carol, and an African salute to the Advent season featuring percussion. The chorus will sing original new music, traditional music and many familiar carols presented in fresh, new ways, according to a press release. Each concert features accompaniment by Linda Brainard on piano, Sara Ehlert on flute, Beth Hassler on strings and a percussion ensemble.
The three concerts will be presented at the following locations:
• Three Lakes Center for the Arts in Three Lakes on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. Small ensemble singing multiple selections from full repertoire. $15 admission.
• Ely Memorial Church in Land O’Lakes on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. Free will offering; refreshments to follow.
• Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Eagle River on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. Free will offering; refreshments to follow.
