Julia was employed at several businesses including Phillips Plastics, Golden Age Nursing Home and Home Health before she was employed for 25 years with Horizons Unlimited.
Several years after retirement, she devoted her time in caring for her paraplegic nephew, James Lunde. All those who knew Julia were touched by her love and kindness.
She devoted much of her time and energy to family and friends. Cookie enjoyed attending family gatherings and cookouts, knitting, crocheting, cooking and loved crafts. She left this world giving her family courage and hope while reminding them of the preciousness of life. She will be so deeply missed by her husband of 57 years; Wayne; children Raymond Swenson, Robert Swenson, Ronald (Kelly) Swenson, all of Rhinelander; Evie Kanitz of Rhinelander and Debbie (Daryl) Court of Merrill; daughter-in-law; Nancy Swenson of Rhinelander.
Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brothers; Delmar "Skip" (Charlotte) Lunde Jr. of Rhinelander, Randy (Kathy) Lunde of Mesa, Arizona, Rick (Michelle Klass) Lunde of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters Ginger (Wayne) Fairfield and Eileen McFee, all of Rhinelander; and brother-in-law Rick Bauknecht. She is further survived by her very dear and lifelong friends Darwin (Kathy) Rosemark, James (Judy) Tanner and Dennis Baldwin. Cookie was preceded in death by her parents; son Roger Swenson Sr.; granddaughter Tabitha Swenson; sister Cindy Bauknecht, brother Darl Lunde; three nephews and her sweet little fur baby Maggie.
The family invites everyone to celebrate Cookie's life on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Pine Lake Town Hall located at 4197 River Road, Rhinelander.
