A 29-year-old former Rhinelander man who was sentenced to prison for the third-degree sexual assault of a then 15-year-old girl in 2011 is due to be released from prison on extended supervision Tuesday, according to a press release from the Rhinelander Police Department.

According to the release, Jason L. Mullen broke a basement window and entered the residence of a 15-year-old female acquaintance back in 2010. He told the victim he had a knife and sexually assaulted her. It was later determined he had no weapon. In 2011, Mullen sexually assaulted another 15-year-old female acquaintance.

The RPD issued the press release in accordance with Wisconsin State Statute 301.46.

Mullen was to be released to community supervision by the Wisconsin Department of Correction - Probation and Parole Office in Rhinelander. He will be placed on the Intensive Supervision Program until Sept. 1, 2032. He will be on the Global Positioning System (GPS) and required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program for life, the release states.

Mullen is due to spend seven years on extended supervision, followed by 10 years of probation.
