After their marriage they moved to Chicago for a couple years before returning to Rhinelander where Lucille has lived since. She worked for the school district in the kitchen for a few years but mainly took care of her family.
Lucille was a longtime member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling with Jay, especially the yearly winter trip to Texas. They had visited 45 out of the 50 states. Lucille also loved her Sheltie dogs and knitting. She enjoyed making mittens for the "Mitten Tree" each year.
Lucille is survived by her daughters Rae Anne (Thomas) Cheslock and Lana (Steve) Leighton and her sons David and Daniel Bixby, all of Rhinelander, her grandchildren Shane Leighton, Michael and Jay Cheslock, great-granddaughter Alivia Barthels-Cheslock and nieces and nephews. In addition to Jay she was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Margaret Nordquist and brother Conrad Dietz.
Funeral services for Lucille will be held on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 at 1 p.m., with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Reverend Tammy Barthels will officiate. Interment will follow in the Forest Home Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Bixby family at www.carlsonfh.com.
