His family moved to Rhinelander in 1959; in 1966 he graduated from Rhinelander High School. Following graduation, he went to baker's school which led to running the family business, The Tasty Bakery. He also operated the Dutch Oven and Deli and Bernie's prior to moving onto other adventures in Florida. He moved to North Carolina in 2007, where he retired in February, 2016. Jerry loved life to the end, he had a passion for baking, cooking and traveling; his bucket list was never fulfilled.
In addition to his mother, Audrey; he is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Ina Dale Runnels; one son, Tim Van Beynen; one daughter, Ann Marie (Russ) Waldrop; four grandchildren, Gretchen Van Beynen and Maximus, Zylo, and Bazz Waldrop; three sisters, Carla Fletcher, Mary (Mark) Sturm, Karen (Dave) Mittelsteadt; and by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Maggie, his canine companion.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you for all of the prayers and love during his illness.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Jerry's memory to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 is appreciated.
