The site of the Pizza Hut restaurant at the corner of Oneida Avenue and Lincoln Street will soon be torn down to make way for a new Associated Bank branch office to replace the one at Davenport and Stevens Street in downtown Rhinelander. According to the site plan approved by the City Council in August 2016, the building will be a single-story, 2,700 square-foot structure similar to the branch the bank built on U.S. Highway 51 in Minocqua, which is the standard design Associated Bank is using for its new branches. The bank entered into a 25-year lease with the city for a 23-foot strip of land adjacent to the parcel that was deemed critical to the parking lot. Repeated attempts to reach a spokesperson for the bank in regard to a timeline for the new building were unsuccessful.
