Authorities: Albert Chagnon back in jail on probation hold
By By River NEws staff-
"Albert Chagnon is currently in the Oneida County jail and not in the community due to a probation hold," read a statement on the sheriff's office Facebook page posted at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday.
"Probation and parole has to investigate the (alleged probation) violation and provide that investigation to their superiors," according to another post on the sheriff's office Facebook Page.
A spokesperson for the Department of Corrections (DOC) would not clarify what prompted the hold but did say the department has not received allegations Chagnon was near a school bus stop.
"DOC received information regarding a potential supervision violation by offender Albert Chagnon," DOC communications director Tristan D. Cook said in an email to the River News. "He has been taken into custody at the Oneida County Jail while DOC investigates the allegations. At this time, the allegations remain under investigation."
"If DOC determines that he violated the rules of his supervision, his agent will determine the appropriate response, which could include confinement time, up to revocation of his supervision," he added.
If any member of the public has any concerns or tips regarding Albert Chagnon, they can contact the DOC Regional Office at 715-365-2587, Cook added.
Chagnon, 35, was released to community supervision Sept. 26 after serving a sentence for possessing sexually explicit photographs of children. He is to remain on supervision until Oct. 3, 2023 and is required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program until Jan. 8, 2025.
