Pamela J. Hansen, age 74 of Rhinelander, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 with her family at her side, at Riverview Rehab & Care Center in Tomahawk.

She was born in Sandusky, Ohio on Feb. 24, 1943, the daughter of John and Helen (Schuenke) Szekais. While her father John served his country during World War II, the family lived with his parents in Racine. Upon his return the family lived in Racine and in 1951 the family moved to Union Grove. Pam was a 1961 graduate of William Horlick High School in Racine. On July 23, 1962 Pam was united in marriage to Gene Allen Hansen in Chicago, Illinois. The couple lived in Ft. Benning, Georgia for two years while Gene served his country. The couple then returned to Union Grove. On April 19, 1963 the couple welcomed the birth of their son, Gene Scott Hansen and on July 15, 1964, the birth of their daughter, Dolores. In 1971, the family moved to Rhinelander. Pam and Gene were married for 15 years and later were divorced. While living in Rhinelander, Pam was employed as a waitress for various restaurants and also did clerical work. Pam was very artistic and enjoyed spending time drawing, painting and crafting. She also enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, traveling to Melbourne, Florida as a snowbird, having family visit in Florida and she absolutely loved the music of the "King" Elvis Presley. She will be dearly missed by her children: Gene S. Hansen Sr. of Rhinelander, Dolores Hansen and David Raith of Rhinelander; five grandchildren: Erica (Matt) Spiegel, Nicole Hansen, Gene "Scotty" Hansen Jr., Madisyn Pupp and Joeseph Pupp; one sister Barbara (Lars Watson) Szekais of Seattle, Wash. and a brother, Martin Szekais of Rhinelander. Also surviving are other relatives and friends. Pam was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son Joey Hansen in 1967, one grandson, Michael Pupp, and one brother, Steve Szekais.

In accordance with Pamela's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Memorial contributions in her honor may be given to Toys for Tots or to the Rhinelander or Merrill Animal Shelter.
