Confirmed: One dead in Tomahawk shooting; suspect in custody
The suspect, a 32-year-old Wausau man, is in custody, the chief confirmed.
According to Elvin, a call came in at approximately 5:47 reporting Charles K. Ramp, 52, had been shot at his residence.
Ramp was transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk where he later died.
Police say the two men knew each other but no information as to motive was released. According to Elvin, the suspect was at the house when Ramp arrived home. At some point, the two walked out of the house to the driveway and the shooting occurred. One other person suffered minor injuries after being hit by debris.
The suspect fled the area. According to Elvins, he was located at a Walmart in Lake Hallie at approximately 11 p.m. He was taken into custody without incident, police said.
The weapon, referred to as a long gun, was recovered, Elvins added.
The suspect, who has not been identified, is not expected to make a court appearance until next week.
