Just after 3:45 p.m. Monday, Oneida County 9-1-1 dispatch received a report of a report of a vehicle in the ditch on U.S. Highway 8 at the intersection with County Road P. The vehicle had been traveling eastbound on the highway when it left the road and traveled about 100 feet in the ditch, knocking over a road sign before coming to a stop. An Oneida County deputy on the scene said the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle had just received an injection earlier in the afternoon and her leg suddenly became paralyzed, leading to her foot becoming stuck on the accelerator. She was transported to Ascension St. Mary's Hospital with minor injuries. In addition to the sheriff's department and an Oneida County ambulance, units from the Pelican and Crandon fire departments responded to the scene.
