Tom owned and operated, Newman's Auto Service Station in Eagle. Five of their six children were born in this area.
In 1978 Tom and Jane moved to northern Wisconsin opening another service station in Monico. Later they would move to Snowden Lake outside of Rhinelander and open Hodag Auto Sales.
He had a lifelong love for classic vehicles and shared this passion with his children. He also had a love for being "Up North." It held a special place in his heart, which was instilled in all of his children. The U.P. and Lake Superior were his special places to escape and give him peace of mind. Tom was a devoted family man that loved his wife and six children dearly. He is survived by his children, Cynthia (Joseph) Bocek of Crandon, Christopher Kingston of Malibu, California, Phillip Newman of Rhinelander, Kimberly (Peter Fourt) Deede of Rhinelander, Judith (Jon) Robinson of Rough and Ready, California, Valerie (James Dahl) Newman of Laurium, Michigan; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Jane, his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
A memorial and remembrance service for Tom will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinelander.
Service to start at 11 a.m. with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating.
There will be a luncheon to follow.
