Ripco makes donation to library foundation for new lights
By Kayla Thomason-
Ripco Credit Union donated $500 toward the project Thursday.
"This donation is to help us install new lighting in the 1985 section of the building," said foundation president Susan Anderson. "Since 1985 there's been many advances in technology and we can operate much more efficiently so that we can do all the wonderful programs that we do at the library."
According to Anderson, LED lighting, which is more efficient to maintain and run, will be installed. Electrical work is planned as well.
"The lighting will be in a box shape and will be much closer to the ceiling, they will give off more light so that we will have a lot more visibility in the stacks that people choose their books," Anderson explained.
The foundation has a goal of $16,000 for the project and has already raised $8,654. The goal is to begin the work shortly after the first of the year.
"We thank all the donors that have given already and we certainly appreciate Ripco's contribution to help make this happen," Anderson said.
Diane Sowinski, vice president of marketing and business development at Ripco Credit Union, was pleased to help the foundation and library.
"It seems a little nicer to direct it toward a specific place so that you can see your donation in action and the lighting is going to be a great improvement here," she said, adding that the new lighting will benefit those using the facility.
Anyone interested in making a donation can drop off a check at the library or mail it to the library at 106 N. Stevens St., Rhinelander, WI 54501. Make checks out to the Rhinelander District Library Foundation and put lighting in the memo section.
