Bruce J. Johnson, 77, of DeKalb, Ill., went to heaven, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease, on June 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack (former employee of the Rhinelander Daily News) and Lois Johnson nee Wagner. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda of 54 years, children Greg Johnson (Janelle), Cortland, Ill., Steve Johnson (Sheila), Ada, Mich., Randy Johnson (Shawna), Vernon Hills, Ill., Molly Johnson, Chicago; Kathy Dmochowski nee Johnson (Keith), Bolingbrook, Ill.; sister Sue Verage nee Johnson, Rhinelander, and brother Bob Johnson, Little Chute. He had nine grandchildren: Mitch, Sam, Nick, Jessica, Megan, Justin, Connor, Phoebe, and Luke.

Bruce was born in Rhinelander on June 15, 1940. He attended Rhinelander High School and excelled both academically and athletically. He was the captain of the basketball and baseball teams, and also was the quarterback for the football team. After graduation, Bruce attended University of Wisconsin where he received his accounting degree. In 1970, Bruce and Brenda settled in DeKalb,, where he started his accounting business which he successfully ran for 30 years before retirement. One of his favorite things to do was to spend time at the lake cabin in the Wisconsin northwoods. A service will be held at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, Illinois on July 1, 2017.
