Sandy graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1958 and attended UW- Stevens Point. He was a truck driver for much of his working career, retiring from WH Transportation in 2003. He then drove school bus until 2011. Sandy was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church and served as an usher. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and ATV riding, having served as a trail patroller with the Oneida Co. ATV Association. Sandy was also a skillful wine maker and enjoyed wintering in Florida with his wife, Char.
Sandy is survived by his wife, Cherylene "Char" Scheeler of Rhinelander; a daughter, Tiffany Schmitt of Weston; a son, Jesse (Tiffany) Scheeler of Shiocton; stepson, John Guyer; grandchildren, Olivia, Joe, and Ella; and sister, Sherry Rouse of Armstrong Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn Hurlbutt.
The funeral service for Sandy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Krahn officiating. Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017, at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
