Sharon G. LeMay Lamer, 80, of Lamer Road, Tomahawk, peacefully passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

Sharon's parents were Neil and Ruby LeMay. Sharon was born in Hayward on Jan. 2, 1937. The LeMay family moved to Tomahawk in 1943. Sharon graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1954. She attended Madison General Hospital School of Nursing and married Lonn P. Lamer in Tomahawk on Oct. 29, 1955. With her husband Lonn, they ran the Crystal Lake Fur Farm prior to operating the Pine Cone Ranch Resort from 1982 until Sharon's death.

She worked as a Certified Medical Assistant, beginning at the R. J. Henderson Clinic and later at the Family Clinic. She taught CPR. She became an Internationally Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor III and worked at Sacred Heart Hospital Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center, helped start the Marshfield program, worked many years for North Central Health Care Premiere Recovery Services with North Central Health Care Center in Marathon County and ended her career working at Koinonia Residential Treatment Center in Rhinelander, retiring in 2008.

Sharon belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star; Grace Lutheran Church where she once taught Sunday School and later became an active church lector; past board member of the Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce; volunteered for the Salvation Army Christmas drive, and during the last years of her life she worked diligently to find housing solutions for all area homeless persons.

She is survived by her husband, Lonn; her son, L. Monte (Shirley) Lamer, Michele (Tom) Kahle; sister, L. Jane LeMay; brother, N. Curtis LeMay of St. Paul, Minn.; grandchildren, Paul Nyberg of Healy, Alaska; Amanda Bartz, Samantha Arbuckle of Healy, Alaska; Melina Lamer of Saint Louis Park, Minn. and Hunter Lamer. She has six great-grandchildren.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Neil Allen LeMay, her daughter Kim White, her grandson Tyler Thomas Kahle and her great-grandson Matthew Allan Arbuckle.

The funeral service for Sharon Lamer will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark Ziemer will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Sharon's passion was creative writing and she published a book, "Don't Forget to Check the Pine Tree" in 2013. She enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and taking road trips with her husband Lonn. She loved to cook, bake, and interact with family and friends. Sharon will be most remembered as a person who dedicated her life to helping others.
