Charlotte "Char" E. Moore of Rhinelander, passed away Friday evening, July 28, 2017, at Wausau Aspirus Hospital at the age of 90. She was born in Rhinelander on Saturday, May 7, 1927, the daughter of James and Grace (Smith) Hails. Charlotte met her future husband, Ambrose Moore, at a dance in the early 1940s. Ambrose was called to serve his country during World War II and with that, Charlotte promised to wait for his return. Upon his return, the couple was married on July 31, 1945 in Wood County. They owned and operated a dairy farm for one year in Wood County. The couple then moved back to Rhinelander. Char was employed as a nurse's aide for 30 years and was a foster parent for 30 years. Char enjoyed participating in the Rhinelander Stunt Night. She had been a member of the Shady Squares, Square Dancing Club and the Pine Lake Women's Club. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bunco, traveling to Hawaii, North Dakota and Washington state. Char enjoyed baking bread and dough gobs. But most of all, Char will be remembered for her friendship, her love of family and her great sense of humor. Char was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.

Surviving are her children: Helen (Ronald Sr.) Gauthier, David (Linda) Moore, Debbie (Tom) Bellile, Brian (Linda) Moore, all of Rhinelander; a daughter-in-law, Linda Moore, of Ravenna, Mich.,; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, John (Sharon) Hahn of Billings, Montana, and Willard Hahn of North Dakota, and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Hahn. Char is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ambrose Moore in 2009; one son, John Moore in 2011; daughter Kathy Alderton; one brother Kermit Hahn and three sisters, Hazel (Bill) Cleland, Loretta (Gene) Paquette and Uretta Hails. The visitation for Char will be held on Friday, Aug. 4, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. Memorial Mass at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church (St. Joseph site). Fr. Randy Knauf will be officiating. Inurnment will take place at Nativity Catholic Cemetery. Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists. 24 E.
