Man suspected of setting vehicle on fire apprehended

The man, later identified as Richard Hitchcock, 51, of Waukesha, was arrested for arson and endangering safety by intoxicated use of a dangerous weapon.
According to a press release from Chief Deputy Dan Hess of the sheriff's office, the dispatch center received a 911 call around 6:35 p.m. Thursday from a person who said a friend of his drove his vehicle into the woods and started the vehicle on fire on a side road near 955 U.S. Highway 45 in the town of Elcho. The caller also said he heard three gunshots.
Among law enforcement and emergency personnel who responded were firefighters, who extinguished the vehicle fire.
Hess said in the initial press release authorities were not able to locate the suspect but by 10 p.m. on Thursday, he released an update to the situation, saying the suspect had been located and taken into custody.
The sheriff's office is continuing its investigation of the incident.
